Tilde featured on ‘The Tampopo Post’ Blog
Cat Grishaver is our new neighbor. She is a designer and illustrator who runs a small letterpress shop and lives right down the street from us in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland. She was nice enough to feature us on her newly created blog: The Tampopo Post. Thanks for the kind words and fun shop pictures Cat!

Diem Chau: Statuesque Crayons!
You don't have to be a soccer fan to appreciate these ingenious little characters. Seattle artist, Diem Chau was commissioned by Wieden + Kennedy to carve these figurines for Nike's World Cup Press kits. She used Crayola crayons in hues that mimicked marble, stone and other materials traditionally used for statues. Tiny works of art, these are not meant for coloring. Click here to see more information and pictures on the press kit project. The crayon sculptures are certainly impressive (we favor the brightly colored ones!) but Diem's embroidered pieces on dishware are not to be overlooked! Visit the artist's website to see more inspiring work.

New @ Tilde: Jennifer Mercede Artwork
Tilde is now home to a bright, whimsical and happy collection of miniature paintings on wood by local artist Jennifer Mercede. If you are missing the sunshine (as we are) and need some cheering up, one of these little characters will surely do the trick. Giraffes, frogs, butterflies and a zebra, oh my! We also have a selection of prints and cards. Start your own little zoo!

Window Love!
With a gasp and an ‘oh my’ we opened the current issue of the industry magazine Gifts and Decorative Accessories to see quite the sweet article on Tilde and our ever changing window displays. We had heard word there might be mention of our windows in this magazine after our shop received mention during a visual merchandising seminar earlier this year at the National Stationery Show. But it became something we sort of forgot about, because if you hope too hard and all . . . . .
So, we can’t say how honored we are that Linda Cahan chose to write this pretty picture article about something that we started doing just to keep our own personal creativity active and alive. Of course, our customers and neighbors love the windows as much as we do, so we’ll definitely keep them coming! Stay tuned for yet another new window display to appear next week. Think ‘day glow molecules’ in super-sized shape and form! Cryptic for now, yet once up in the windows we predict that you’ll love this window as much as your favorite from the past!

Artecnica Dada Alarm Clock
We’ve just received the highly covetable Dada Clock in Clear from Artecnica. The Dada Clock is surely one of the most cool tabletop alarm clocks ever, with it’s warped angle on viewing time (though easy to read if viewed straight on). The hand polished egg shape was designed to recall the essence of surrealism, which it successfully achieves with it’s warped angles when viewed from any side except the front. Also available in Amber and Aqua.
You can click here to buy them through our online shop.

Elizabeth Soule Photography at Tilde
Our featured visual artist this month is the Portland photographer, Elizabeth Soule. Her eye for moments of beauty and humor, and the ability to turn a still shot into a full story, can leave you standing and admiring her photos for quite a bit of time.
Elizabeth's photographs are on our walls until the end of June (just a few weeks!), we hope you can take a break in your day to swing by and see them all. Most are shots around Portland or New York City. They are all, oh so good!
