Stella Saves the Day
Ah, the search for the perfect locket has ended with the beautiful jewelry of Stella Saves the Day! (She does, really.) Jennifer Shingelo (the woman behind Stella) creates an extensive jewelry line but allows us to wax poetic about her lockets. Using vintage, antique, dead-stock, or American made components (for maximum environmental friendliness), Jennifer turns all into tiny treasures, one at a time, from her Brooklyn, New York home. Inside each brass locket she has embroidered one side reserving the other for your special photo.

Sweet and charming, cool and whimsical, these lockets will be sure to please your sweetheart! Stop by the store and snatch one up for a Mother’s Day gift that will surely delight!

Marquet
The lovely scarves of Marquet are some of our favorite accessories. With such beautiful colors and textures, how could we not be fans? All scarves are sweet mix of silk and cotton.

Marquet is a fair trade business that works with creative artisans and entrepreneurs in developing countries. We’ve met with David, the owner, and like/admire/envy that he “travels the world extensively to individually meet the artisans and hear their stories. This personal connection enables the artists to grow their business on the foundations of trust, respect, and mutual understanding as well as ensure that all of their goods are ethically sourced.” Marquet goes to great lengths to document the origins of these goods and sells only handmade products following the principles of Fair Trade as outlined by the Fair Trade Federation.
How cool is that? Fashion with a conscience. And, beautiful colors and textures to wrap yourself up in this spring.

Backpacks
For those of you currently bucking that crazy handbag trend, yet still need to figure out how to stylishly carry all your stuff around, we give you (drum roll, please!) the backpack. Hands-free anyone? It’s not just for cell phones – you know the backpack came first. Remember your Camp Fire Girl days? Or schlepping school books home on the bus? Well, now we say why not backpack around in a sweet and stylish manner?
These two backpack styles are super convertible. And, when you tire of backpacking around, you can adjust its straps and wear it in the traditional style of a handbag. (We love snazzy options.) And, better yet: these two styles come in tons of colors perfect for spring!
These Portland, OR designed bags are by Mosey, a company that is committed to ‘lightly’ impacting the environment in the creation of their convertible handbags/backpacks. To note: the main fabric used in their bags is derived from recycled water bottles.
**Special thanks to our neighbors at the Sellwood Umpqua bank. They always look so stylish – we are thrilled that they were game for a moment of backpack modeling!

Favor jewelry
Favor is a Portland, Oregon based jewelry design studio, founded by Monika Reed, offering delicate, timeless, and sentimental jewelry inspired by the shapes, stones, and metals found in the natural world. Favor jewelry can be worn day to night, season to season, and year after year. And, with a good conscience behind the products, you’ll want to do just that!
With this fine line, Monika strives to create products that are neither meant to be disposable nor meant to enter the waste stream for generations, if ever. While these facts may not be apparent, they are Favor’s underlying principles.
Favor’s goal is to create pieces that are fun to touch, easy on the eyes, and friendly to the environment. All are made with natural gemstones and reclaimed, hypoallergenic, nickel-free metals such as sterling silver and 14k yellow and rose gold that are certified to be 100% recycled.
We love when designers mix the beautiful with higher, good intentions. You will, too!

Mywalit
We recently brought in so many piles and piles of these luscious wallets from Lucca, Italy that frankly, we ran out of adjectives as we endlessly unboxed them, getting them ready for display. Almost every table in our little shop is bedecked with super soft and colorful Mywalits! In every shape and size, we’ve got ladies wallets, men’s bifold wallets, card cases, coin purses in sizes from super size to teeny tiny – we could be the new wallet HQ of the Northwest. Or, at least Sellwood.
Stop by and feel their soft goodness, see their wonderful hues, and set off with a few for the giving.

Ball & Chain Jewelry
The jewelry designs of Katrina Balling- from Portland’s hip sister city – Brooklyn, New York, are indy darlings with an edgy feel.
With an MFA in sculpture, Katrina works as an artist by night and designer by day, both allowing her to express her love for fashion. Katrina’s jewelry line, Ball & Chain, has brought her back to her sculptural start – her necklaces are a mix of vintage finds, treasures she has recast in silver with long ropes of fiber and metal crocheted together.
Katrina is continually creating new jewelry style with every incoming order, there is no predicting what the Ball & Chain jewelry line will show next.

Beijo Brazil
Butterflies! A perfect reminder that spring will be here soon! We recently stumbled upon the whimsical line of Beijo Brasil and fell in love with their jewelry line featuring vintage images of butterflies, and a few moths too. You will, too.
The Beijo Brasil jewelry line started in 2002 when the designer, Misty Darling, was living in Sao Paulo, Brasil. The line is now relocated to Sonoma, California with inspirations hailing from a huge cache of ephemera and their work with local artists.
Their designs are printed on translucent, lightweight plastic for a fun and flirty feel with just a hint of glamour. A perfect translation of the fluttery, floating butterfly. Adorn yourself!

Curves + Lines Show: Katie Kulper
Time for a closer look at the artwork Katie Kulper has created for Curves + Lines, our currently running visual art show. Katie is a Portland, Oregon based artist/designer. Her multi-dimensional paper sculptures are a study of the beauty found within seasons of sadness.
Katie has hand-dyed the paper, cutting each piece into the shape of a drop, and from these shapes formed texturally-patterned paper sculptures. The shadow box frames were also constructed from Katie’s hands out of fir with small walnut inlays at each corner.

Amy Wing Designs
We have always, always, always loved Amy’s jewelry designs, but were even more impressed with this designer’s newest line – and, Amy’s new Venetian Shadow Collection does not disappoint! The shapes and tones and metals mixed in this new collection are based on the Venetian iron work Amy discovered on a trip to Italy last summer. (Remember summer?)
Along the canals of Venice, Amy found beautiful examples of decorative iron work gates, grates, doors, and windows. Inspired by these centuries-old designs her current collection plays with the concepts of light, dark, shape, and form and connects all in pieces that offer perfect palate for winter.
