The show opens with an artist  reception from <strong>6:00pm to 9:00pm on Friday, February 3rd.</strong> The show will be on our walls until March 31st.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/olivine3_large.jpg" rel="lightbox[2314]" title="olivine3_large"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2317" title="olivine3_large" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/olivine3_large-560x402.jpg" alt="" width="560" height="402" /></a><strong>Julie Everhart</strong>, founder of <a href="http://www.studio-olivine.com/about/" target="_blank">Studio Olivine</a>, is a letterpress artist living in Portland, Oregon who enjoys keeping her hands inky. She&#8217;s been drawing since she was old enough to hold a pen and continues to evolve and change her processes every day. Julie prints on wood, linen, and paper, using earth friendly methods and materials whenever possible. For her <a href="http://www.tildeshop.com/index.php?main_page=index&amp;cPath=277_529" target="_blank">first collection of letterpress art prints</a>, Julie focuses on the beauty of the ever-evolving process of life.<em> </em>Change is the theme, complete with bends and turns and additions of elements that have shaped the artist and her art into something new, complex, and beautiful. Pieces in this show are printed and pressed on handmade recycled paper, one color at a time with soy inks, and mounted onto bamboo.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/katie-kulper-circle.jpg" rel="lightbox[2314]" title="katie kulper circle"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2318" title="katie kulper circle" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/katie-kulper-circle-560x560.jpg" alt="" width="560" height="560" /></a><strong>Katie Kulper</strong> is an Oregonian (born and raised), and Portland based artist/designer. She created multi-dimension paper sculptures for the current show with the notion that in seasons of sadness and brokenness, there is beauty to be found. Similar to a long season of rain and clouds, new growth and clear skies are the result. Katie notes that she’s experienced her fair share of rainy seasons, and each piece in the show represents one of the places where she’s shed and shared tears. The intensely emotional process in her creative thinking and artistic execution offer a beautiful result.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/mkarger-artwork.jpg" rel="lightbox[2314]" title="mkarger artwork"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2319" title="mkarger artwork" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/mkarger-artwork-560x375.jpg" alt="" width="560" height="375" /></a>Residing in the <em>Land of 10,000 Lakes</em>, <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/Crafterall" target="_blank"><strong>Marnie Karger</strong></a> draws inspiration from the geography and history of the land around her as she reveres a sincere sense of place and home. Her unique artworks are created by carefully cutting and layering chromatically colored paper to represent depth maps of popular lakes, rivers, and coastlines. Each piece <a href="http://www.tildeshop.com/index.php?main_page=index&amp;cPath=277_529" target="_blank">for the show</a> is a handmade effort, reflecting attention to and appreciation of the beauty, mystery, and complexity of the contours beneath the surface of the water.</p>
<p>★ Please join us to meet the Portland based artists, Julie and Katie, at the<strong> Artist’s Reception</strong> on <strong>Friday, February 3rd from 6-9pm</strong>. The artwork is for purchase through March 31st, and available <a href="http://www.tildeshop.com/index.php?main_page=index&amp;cPath=277_529" target="_blank">on our website</a> too!</p>

The shapes and tones and metals mixed in this new collection are based on the Venetian iron work Amy discovered on a trip to Italy last summer. (Remember summer?)</p>
<p><a href="http://www.tildeshop.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=544_547&amp;products_id=1391" target="_blank"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2313" title="IMG_0073" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/IMG_0073-560x420.jpg" alt="" width="560" height="420" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.tildeshop.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=544_547&amp;products_id=1336" target="_blank"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2306" title="VenetianShadow5" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/VenetianShadow5.jpg" alt="" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.tildeshop.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=544_547&amp;products_id=1346" target="_blank"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2308" title="Capture" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Capture1.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="306" /></a>Along the canals of Venice, Amy found beautiful examples of decorative iron work gates, grates, doors, and windows. Inspired by these centuries-old designs her current collection plays with the concepts of light, dark, shape, and form and connects all in pieces that offer perfect palate for winter.</p>

Neoprene is a special type of rubber, used extensively, and more often associated with, the outdoor swim &amp; surf, plumbing, car and motorcycle industries. It&#8217;s velvety, flexible, smooth, and soft to touch.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-2305" href="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/design/neo/attachment/img_0069-2/"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2305" title="IMG_0069" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/IMG_00691-560x420.jpg" alt="" width="560" height="420" /></a>These completely cool, rubber baskets crafted from this amazing  &#8220;yarn&#8221; feel unbelievably soft and silky, in complete contrast with their rugged appearance and intense color. Designed by Rosanna Contadini for <a href="http://neodesignart.com/index.php" target="_blank">Neo</a>, the neoprene yarn is made in Italy where she and her partner then knit it into multiple-sized baskets. Why not corral all your doo-dads in a flexible style?</p>

Modern combinations of stones (natural, undyed, high quality) and a sweet mix of oxidized silver and gold vermeil will tempt you to choose a pair of earrings or a beautiful necklace for all your outfits for this brand new year. Of this, we&#8217;re quite sure.</p>

In 2007 they created their now quite famous botanical identification poster and those of us who enjoy such magical greenery have been following their illustration moves ever since. <p>Yet another terrific Portland design group, <a href="http://www.quartertwenty.com/" target="_blank">Quartertwenty</a> is led by Matthew Bietz and creates projects spanning furniture, installations, and buildings, exploring relationships between design, art, and production in their keen designs.</p>

Its shelf slot is cut from the stool, resulting in a strip of steel that becomes a minimalist yet muscular bottle opener.</p>
<p>A perfect example of the <em>reuse, recycle, reuse again</em> model that we love. And, a totally perfect, handy gift for those holiday parties.</p>

We&#8217;ve carried their <a href="http://www.tildeshop.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=553_565&amp;products_id=1248" target="_blank">ingenious fabric wraps</a> in the past, and they&#8217;re back just in time for the holidays.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-2273" href="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/gifts/chewing-the-cud-2/attachment/chew-cud-love/"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2273" title="chew cud love" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/chew-cud-love-560x823.jpg" alt="" width="560" height="823" /></a>Inspired by the traditional art of Japanese gift wrapping to advocate that your gift presentation should be as meaningful as your gift, each print is hand-printed on 100% organic cotton with soy-based inks. There are so many inventive ways to use this wrap&#8211;wrap boxes, bottles, book, jewelry, more. Whatever you wrap, this is your fabric. Your BFF receives a beautiful gift <em>and</em> presentation, and she can re-use it or wear it as a pretty scarf.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-2274" href="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/gifts/chewing-the-cud-2/attachment/chew-cud-w-glasses/" target="_blank"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2274" title="chew cud w glasses" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/chew-cud-w-glasses-560x368.jpg" alt="" width="560" height="368" /></a><a rel="attachment wp-att-2275" href="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/gifts/chewing-the-cud-2/attachment/chew-cud-luck/"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2275" title="chew cud luck" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/chew-cud-luck-560x449.jpg" alt="" width="560" height="449" /></a><a rel="attachment wp-att-2276" href="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/gifts/chewing-the-cud-2/attachment/chew-cud-1/"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2276" title="chew cud 1" src="http://www.tildeshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/chew-cud-1-560x464.jpg" alt="" width="560" height="464" /></a>This is another awesome product that allows us to reuse and recycle. It&#8217;s so easy to include a wrapping &#8216;how-to&#8217; card in your gift and those that receive gifts from you can re-wrap <em>their</em> next gift and keep the pretty fabric gift wrap going. We&#8217;re thinking this is the only way to adorn your gifts this holiday! Wrap it up with Chewing the Cud fabrics!</p>
