Lynn Everett Read of Vitreluxe Studios

We’re super excited to see the work of Sellwood artist Lynn Everett Read displayed as the feature artist at the Gallery of the Museum of Contemporary Craft.

We’ve long sold his gorgeous glass vases and small bowls, but this is the chance to see all his large museum pieces in one beautiful setting. No doubt you’ll be drawn to the shapely elegance and brilliant colors of the pieces on display.

To quote from the show’s guide: In 1999 Read founded Vitreluxe Glass Works (right here on Tacoma Street in Sellwood) and emerged as a young talent in the American Studio Glass Movement. He then had the opportunity to study with the best Italian Glass Workers both in the states and in Murano, Venice. His work can be seen in stores across the globe, as well as in casinos, restaurants and aquariums.

Read believes in the pure and honest methods of glassblowing using fire, silica, simple steel hand tools and the human spirit. All of his work is created by hand from start to finish. No molds or automation are used. Inspiration can come from anywhere – textiles, mosaics, color field painting, or forms found in nature. Excellent craftsmanship is the focus in Read’s work. Beauty is in the details.

Be sure to catch the show!
