Los Angeles based designer Tina Tangalakis was a volunteer and teacher in Ghana when she met local seamstress Beatrice Agabe. The two quickly bonded over their shared love of design and passion to improve the lives of others. It was there, in the vibrant village of Hohoe, among the scraps of fabric, rough pencil designs, and long conversations between two unlikely friends, that Della was born.
Della presents us handmade purses made by economically vulnerable women working under Beatrice’s mentorship. The sale of every bag has a positive effect on the people of Hohoe. Della is committed to the long-term success of the community. Supporting this socially conscious business model initially drew us to the line. And, when we saw the beautiful fabrics used in the hobo handbag and laptop bags, we knew we had to have them.
