Amy Wing Designs
We have always, always, always loved Amy’s jewelry designs, but were even more impressed with this designer’s newest line – and, Amy’s new Venetian Shadow Collection does not disappoint! The shapes and tones and metals mixed in this new collection are based on the Venetian iron work Amy discovered on a trip to Italy last summer. (Remember summer?)
Along the canals of Venice, Amy found beautiful examples of decorative iron work gates, grates, doors, and windows. Inspired by these centuries-old designs her current collection plays with the concepts of light, dark, shape, and form and connects all in pieces that offer perfect palate for winter.

Tasi Designs
The ladies behind Tasi Designs consistently dazzle us with their fine wares. Modern combinations of stones (natural, undyed, high quality) and a sweet mix of oxidized silver and gold vermeil will tempt you to choose a pair of earrings or a beautiful necklace for all your outfits for this brand new year. Of this, we’re quite sure.
Tasi bling walks the line between glamour and edgy, and with their brand new brass jewelry line we predict their fan base will only increase. When you see these pieces up close, you’re destined to become a true fan, too.

QuarterTwenty
We instantly fell in love with this bottle opener, the Knucklehead, cause we like its rugged functionality, and know you will, too.
Yet another terrific Portland design group, Quartertwenty is led by Matthew Bietz and creates projects spanning furniture, installations, and buildings, exploring relationships between design, art, and production in their keen designs.

One of their smallest creations to date, the Knucklehead is the third product they have made from a single piece of steel used to create their GiddyUp stool. Its shelf slot is cut from the stool, resulting in a strip of steel that becomes a minimalist yet muscular bottle opener.
A perfect example of the reuse, recycle, reuse again model that we love. And, a totally perfect, handy gift for those holiday parties.

Cookoorikoo jewelry
These fun, bright, fabric necklaces are just the accessory you need to add a bit of sunshine to your fall outfits. Fun, whimsical, pieces that splash color all around!
Shanalee Hampton may have made her first YoYo when she was a small child but she officially started her biz, Cookoorikoo, in 2006. The special YoYos she now shares with others via jewelry are a circle of fabric sewn and gathered into a rosette. Used in quilt making for hundreds of years, Shanalee has refashioned this traditional craft item with a modern spin for today.
We are thrilled to see this inventive artist setting up shop in Portland. Her pretty necklaces are going fast, stop by the shop today to grab your favorite color combo!

Kiersten Crowley jewelry
Portland’s Kiersten Crowley creates elegant, organic jewelry and has released a slew of new styles and designs that are totally gorgeous. Her creations include intricate jewelry fashioned from silver and brass and feature sculptural elements and natural stones. All pieces are handcrafted with unique, modern flair.
Kiersten is primarily a self-taught metal smith who has evolved into one of the best jewelry designers in our area (in our humble estimation!). We love that with her fine designs, she pays close attention to details like texture and contrast. We know that you’ll love these details, too, especially when you’re sporting her new designs this fall. Find many of Kiersten’s new, unique designs in our shop now. (Right this very minute now!)

Sahlia Michelle Jewelry
We are happy to be overflowing with new styles from the local jewelry designer Sahlia Michelle. Her unique and sexy combination of traditional metal smith techniques with modern designs and materials allow for the most gorgeous, drapey designs to emerge from her Portland, Oregon studio.
Raw semi-precious gemstones, hand-pounded sterling silver, and her signature recycled molten silver droplets are the core elements of the Sahlia Jewelry Collection. The business is based, too, on sustainable practices that manifest in all aspects of the jewelry-making process, from concept to finished piece. All materials are purchased locally from environmentally/socially responsible sources, including reused and recycled whenever possible.
Beautiful, elegant, unique jewelry with a conscience is super sexy – and, super sexy on you this summer, for certain!

Curious Doodles ‘Hurray for Hands’ 2011 Calendar
This is one cool calendar – so Portland, so Tilde. And it’s our first calendar in stock for 2011. Time to get organized for next year!
Curious Doodles is a Portland-based design machine, the brain child of Laura Trimmel, cranking out all sorts of amazing DIY, handmade, screen printed items like tees and panels and coin purses.
The “Hooray Hands” calendar for 2011 offers a visual celebration of using (your!) hands creatively – each of the calendar’s hand printed illustrations show a person making/doing with their hands. (The designer is happiest when she’s using my hands which is why she felt compelled to make this calendar. We are happy she went for it!)
The screen printed calendar plates are printed both front and back, and rest in a handy, durable jewel case. Perfect stocking stuffers!

Amy Wing’s elegant jewelry shines
Ready for some fall bling? Local fave Amy Wing designs jewelry from silver and gold that is hammered to perfection. Designs include her classic hammered circle necklace in both metals. The circle theme continues in a variety of other necklaces all featuring – you got it! – the circle.
Amy also uses sparkly gemstones in her designs, and we’ve got some of her pieces that feature multi-faceting gems of green garnet, rutilated quartz, and lemon quartz hanging from a small silver circle on a delicate chain. And, of course, we have matching earrings for all.
Inspired by nature and simple, elegant shapes, Amy “makes pieces that are fashionable without being trendy in order to capture a unique and timeless quality.” She often had difficulty finding unique pieces for herself, and was so motivated to create unusual designs that really stand out among the mass-produced stuff out there. Natural beauty that enhances or reflects one’s personality, feels and looks warm on the skin, and becomes classic on its own is what you’ll undoubtedly see in her designs, designs you’ll surely covet.

BrendanDesignBuild: Post Industrial Design
How lucky we are to be a friend of designer Brendan Budge. He has designed and built many of the function display pieces that help define Tilde. From our front desk to our jewelry cases, Brendan describes his work as post-industrial design and we think he’s got that term pegged.
The added perk for us is that his quick thinking mind works well with our more idea-based thought patterns. Once Brendan figures out what we are actually asking for (!) he has designed and built some stand out display pieces that fit seamlessly into our shop.
Here’s Brendan’s definition of his business:
Creativity and invention at BrendanDesignBuild are unlimited. They are fed by the limits of the given project. This is design without pretense; making things for now that will last through tomorrow and age gracefully, the recognition of finite resources and the denial of anything being disposable. Every detail is thought out, every avenue of usage contemplated. BrendanDesignBuild is the promotion of use, not consumption.
As you can see, Brendan’s work matches Tilde’s aesthetic to a T. Clean, simple, refined. Natural, functional. Beautifully designed pieces. He also designed the front desk and play structure for our friends at Spielwerk Toys on N. Williams. On your next visit to Tilde, be sure to look closely at what’s supporting and displaying our fab products, too. Thank you Brendan!

Sahlia Michelle Jewelry at Tilde!
Earlier this summer, I met with Sahlia at her lovely little studio located right here in Portland. She has a gorgeous setup that functions as a perfect gallery space (by appointment) and she also does her creating there. Her line is forever growing as she keeps adding new designs. All her pieces work beautifully together and create quite the effect when layered. This talented artist has a great eye for design and we are thrilled to be carrying her work at Tilde.
I chose pieces from the "torched' and 'rocks and chains' collections and also some designs from a brand new collection! If there are wedding bells in your future, be sure to check out her stunning bridal line although it is not currently available at Tilde.
Portland is no stranger to great design, but this jewelry line is truly a standout! She has gotten significant recognition from local favorites The Neat Sheet, MOD and Crave to name a few. Sahlia's designs are just the right combination of edgy and delicate paired with feminine flair. I threw caution to the wind and picked up one of her beautiful "Gunmetal Whisper" necklaces (above, lower left) and couldn't be happier.
