The Portland Collection by Pendleton
Just in the last month we brought in the newest scarf designs from this iconic Portland-based fashion line. In fact they are right next to our desk so we can gaze at them periodically throughout the day (want, want, want). Now – get ready – for this season The Portland Collection offers wallets and clutches sporting soft leather trim and featuring their trademark virgin wool patterns. The wallets are definitely unisex.
And, stand back when we open up their super spectacular umbrellas. Seriously. These are oversized with beautiful wood handles and spoke ends, and prints of the patterns for this season’s Portland Collection designs. We guarantee you the collectability factor on these is high and we predict they will fly – or sail – out of here quickly.

Orange Diamond Window Display
Our newest window display is up! Yay! Big ole diamonds made from sticks and dip-dyed fabric. In a cheery tones of orange – another happy window for the neighborhood.

Sellwood Matching Game!
Interested in winning a Gift Certificate for $25 to Tilde? We’ve put together some mindless fun. Here’s the deal. The pictures below are a mix of well known entities, and those a bit obscure, all located within the neighborhood in which we dwell: Sellwood. Email us the name (or definition) of as many of the pictures that you recognize. The people that submit over five correct answers will be entered in a drawing to win the aforementioned $25 Tilde gift certificate!
Use our Contact Form to submit your answers. The pictures are in no specific order, just take your best stab at naming those pictures you recognize. Entries must be received Friday, January 7th. The winner will be contacted the week of January 10th.
Apologies to a furry friend who obviously did not like having his picture taken. Have fun and submit your best guesses. We love contests!
January Featured Artists
We are easing into the new year with a show that will feature the printed artwork of four varied visual artists. Though we won’t be holding an artist’s reception on the 1st Friday of the month, we promise this show will brighten your world (or at least a room in your house). The show will remain on our walls through Monday, January 31st, 2011.
Print-a-Palooza features prints of original artwork (in high quality giclée format) from four of our favorite local artists. This special January show allows us to present artwork in an affordable medium for all of us feeling a bit strained after the holidays. All pieces are available for immediate purchase.
Participating Print-a-Palooza artists are:
Hadley Hutton: prints of her encaustic mixed media paintings
Jessica Swift: prints of her illustrations, pattern designs, and paintings
Jen Mercede: prints of her mixed media paintings
Michelle Maule: prints of her mixed media paintings
While each artist has of course developed her own distinctive style, the work of these four favorite women is colorful, vibrant, and will surely captivate those interested in a variety of fine art media and styles.

December 1st Friday artists – group show preview
Tilde invites you to what promises to be our most celebratory First Friday art reception of the year held from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, December 3rd. The show will be on our walls through Friday, January 7th, 2011.
This extra special show for December features seven (yes, count them, seven!) of our favorite artists working in a wide variety of mediums each showcasing 10 current works all presented in 6” x 6” format.
We’ll open with all 70 of these individual pieces of art on the walls of Tilde during the artist’s reception. As this show is timed to be up for the holiday season, all the artwork has been curated with gift giving in mind. Meaning – all pieces are available for immediate purchase! We anticipate they will be moving quickly so hope to see you at the reception or soon thereafter.

Welcome to Sellwood – Cloud Cap Games
We are so happy to welcome our new neighbors, Cloudcap Games, to our awesome neighborly neighborhood. With a fun grand opening event this Saturday, November 20th from 11am to 7pm, be sure to stop by to take a peek into the colorful shop offering fun and games galore.
With a tagline of “Putting Play Back on the Table,” we are all looking forward to checking out all the board games, card games, and puzzles Cloudcap Games has to offer. Plus, they’ll be open late a few nights a week to feature (and offer play time for you and your pals) different board games. Kids and adults are welcome.

Orla Kiely handbags: Calling all collectors – last shipment ’til 2011
Famed handbag designer Orla Kiely is modifying the way she releases her handbag line after the final shipment for Fall/Winter 2010. Perhaps because she wants to keep us even higher up on our tippy toes, or perhaps because she enjoys watching us whimper, her next release of new prints and handbags will not be until sometime in February 2011. Therefore, the large shipment we just received this week(!) of her 2010 line is that much more covetable, so if you are a collector (which many of you in Stumptown are!), you’re going to want to get in the store and grab a bag before they’re gone. You’re not going to see anything new from Orla until the beginning of spring next year.
But, don’t freak out! We’ve got plenty of bags in stock for you – the Alpine design collection is pure Oregon in a grey, brown, and deep green, and this latest shipment of her textural tonal stem design will surely tide you over until spring.

Good neighbor Garden State moves north
We reluctantly bid adieu to our good neighbor Garden State as owner Kevin Sandri closed up his cart this past Saturday and downsizes to his NE Mississippi cart location. Garden State opened a few years ago in Sellwood to immediate critical acclaim – he was in Bon Appetit magazine within six months of starting his biz!
Garden State first opened on the corner of our block, but then Kevin relocated his cart into the parking lot adjacent to Tilde this last January. We’ve enjoyed the delectables Kevin always seems to offer up to those of us with appetites for the delicious. He continues to gather honors: getting special mention in Sunset magazine, gaining runner-up status for best food cart in the (entire!) US on Good Morning America last year, and winning the big prize of glory at the Eat Mobile Food Cart Festival just a few months ago.
What will we do without our weekly fix of our favorite Chickpea Sandwich?! Our day off now definitely requires a visit to the Garden State cart across town. We totally understand Kevin’s need to make his life more livable, but will miss his company and amazing food.
We wish Kevin and Garden State all the best – and hope he comes back to visit us in Sellwood. If he doesn’t, you can bet we’ll be dining at his NE ‘hood cart on our day off!

Leah Nobilette Ceramics
Leah Nobilette, a Portland OR ceramic artist (and our good friend!), developed her extremely popular line of hand-made spiked bowls and vases when finishing her college thesis in 2004. We don’t know anyone that can walk by one of Leah’s ceramic pieces without reaching out to touch them. This unique product line is not just functional, but uniquely decorative and pleasingly tactile. The fragile-looking spiky exteriors are surprisingly sturdy and dishwasher safe.
Leah is a new mom to a beautiful little girl! On top of that, she has just completed relocating her ceramic studio into her home to make it a tad easier to create whenever she can steal a moment or two away from her baby. Aware of all this, we were amazed that she was recently able to restock us with more of her vases. How she found the time is a feat of the unknown. Thank you Leah!

Dan Stiles Poster Winner
