The tiny robot army of Gary Hirsch
Ok, we are totally in love with . . . robots! Miles and miles, tons and tons of tiny little robots. (We know you love them, too.) As we walked past our favorite board game store last week (that would be Cloudcap Games) we saw in the window the hand painted domino ROBOT tiles of local artist Gary Hirsch. (Seriously local – he lives right in our hood).
The colors, shapes, and expressions on these cute robot tiles (hand painted on dominoes) are too much to resist. If you are like us, a bit of whimsy in the form of a tiny robot is the perfect addition to your home, desk or perhaps as a tiny passenger riding next to you in your car.

There’s a gorgeous new clothing line in the shop. Relaxed silhouettes. Snazzy styles. Simple, unique designs. Made in Los Angeles and dreamed up and designed by Jadie Kadletz, PI (Perfectly Imperfect) Organics stands for things that are fresh and simple with rustic beauty. The pieces we have in store truly showcase this essence.

New York Gift Show
Even as we are enjoying the sweet rays of summer, now is the time for shop owners, such as us, to seek out new items for fall & winter (gasp). This last week we traveled to NY for the big gift show. This year's show was full of amazing goodness and we picked up a ton of new items that will fill our shop wall to wall through the end of the year. Here's a sneak peak at some of our finds!
'Piggy' from Materious. This design is a set of two piggy bank, big & little or parent & child, that fit snuggly next to each other. More than just a bank, these piggies serve as a great way to talk to your child about donating to charity, instilling the values of thinking globally in a really sweet way. The designers state " We believe that this simple product, Piggy, can truly make the world a better and more compassionate place. Piggy helps teach kids about charitable giving, with the hopes of inspiring new generations of caring, sharing, philanthropic citizens."
LOVED these porcelain bowl sets complete with stainless steel spoon designed by Ineke Hans of Royalvkb from The Netherlands. These come in a boxed set of two and are a great gift!
Robots! From our friends at Digs, who work with different artists around the world with a commitment to eco- conscious manufacturing, economic development, fair trade, fair wages, as well as quality design. These robots are made from all recycled material and would rule in any home.
The sweetest little charm necklaces from Odette of Brooklyn, NY. Each charm is handmade by designer Jennifer Sarkilahti in her New York studio. Mushrooms, birds, bees and more!

New Orla Kiely: Alpine Forest Print
Orla Kiely launched her colorful patterned handbag line back in 1990, so perhaps you have heard of her? (in our store, on our site or maybe on our blog?..wink, wink) Okay, we admit it; we are pretty outspoken about how amazing these bags are… But we just can’t help it.
Orla’s long standing commitment to smart shapes, colorful and graphic prints as well as durable fabrics have made her line a mainstay at Tilde since we opened. And, we’ve just added a fab new print to our Orla stock—Alpine Forest! This is a brand new pattern for Fall 2010 and we have the classic shoulder bag, midi and maxi sling bags. We also still have a few bags from her summer collection if you want to snag one of those.
These bags are designed with the matte laminated finish and feature a graphic and repetitive tree print in three earth tones (grays, browns, and greens). Inside details include coordinating stem print cotton lining, one zip pocket and two small open pockets for your phone and other small essentials, a key chain, and leather encased magnet closure. You might not want to think ahead to fall at this point, but it is right around the corner and these are just the right color for the season.
Based in London, England Orla Kiely consistently blends form and function in all her designs. Lucky for you, we are right here in Portland so you can stop by the store to admire & inspect these bags in person or cruise our online store.
