Holiday Ribbon Window Display!
Our newest windows are up and bright for the winter holiday season. The amazing Joanna created giant, hanging, pillar lights out of woven ribbon. On the ground she wrapped a bunch of big boxes in the same satin ribbon to allow us to show you many of gifts inside the shop. We are ready for the season!

Preview: Ryan Berkley Art Show
Ryan Berkley – “Sophisticated Menagerie: The Oregon Collection”
Perhaps best known for his “Animals in Suits” series, Ryan likes to tackle surreal subject matter in a very friendly way. His highly detailed drawings and prints are perfect for your walls or family photo albums.
His work has been described as “Norman Rockwell meets Richard Scarry” (which he found flattering enough to repeat!). The “Sophisticated Menagerie: The Oregon Collection” features animals found in Oregon. Included in this show are a number of new original works and archival prints of other Oregon favorites, created with markers and colored pencil. (You might just recognize a few of the characters from your own backyard.)
Ryan’s animal portraits made a splash in April 2006 at the first Portland Crafty Wonderland art and craft show. That show’s “ancestor theme” for the Berkley booth was inspired by the couple’s love of animals and old-timey portraiture. The ancestor animals did so well at that first show that they’ve continued to evolve and multiply ever since. Berkley Illustration has lived on Etsy since 2007.
Ryan loves illustration projects of all sorts, and has done work for clients including Nike, The Discovery Channel, Urban Outfitters, Land of Nod, Patagonia, Audubon Magazine, and various bands. His work has been featured in magazines (including Real Simple, Country Living, and Uppercase), books, and gallery shows across the land. He lives and works in Portland, Oregon with his wife, Lucy (storywriter/customer services/computery person behind the scenes), and their new baby girl, Ramona.

Orange Diamond Window Display

6 year anniversary celebration & sale!

A D Busch re-BEAM planters
Re-BEAM Planters, created by Portland design company A D Busch, are made from recycled and reused header beams taken from construction sites and material recyclers. Each planter has a succulent arrangement inside, created by Rachel Busch. Each are different in size and plantings and can live indoors or out depending on the climate.
This local creative business uses raw material to enhance their custom craftsmanship, and strives to create work that evolves over time. Says founder Aaron D. Busch “When something is truly made to last, it shows the wear and presence of the people who use it, and that wear is what gives an object its character.”

Tilde’s Window’s on MSNBC
We were *beyond thrilled* to be chosen by MSNBC for a feature on window displays. The show is called Your Business – a program which specializes on topics of interest to independent businesses. The MSNBC team flew out from New York to film us discussing our take on the importance of window displays. They also filmed us installing one of our fab window displays (which they then ran in super-speed – how cool is that?).
How’d Tilde get on the MSNBC radar, you ask? We were referred by Linda Cahan, a national expert on window display and merchandising, who also was featured in the show offering viewers terrific advice. The Tilde team worked diligently to create a window that showed products and our super crafty Tilde style. Our ten minutes of fame caught on film – and, for you to view right here.

Jill Bliss art reception Friday night!
We feel we are within a bird sanctuary! Jill Bliss has brought in all her artwork for her October show opening tomorrow night. Her bird collages are super spectacular and truly a mixed media delight. The show is a combination of painting and the re-use of paper from other work she has created blended together atop a colorful piece of wood that is edged with graphic washi tape to wrap it all up! Her handmade fabric leaf and feather garlands surround the bird art and really make our shop feel like a private hideaway.
Hope you can join us tomorrow night, October 7th, from 6-9pm to meet Jill and check out her newest original artwork. The show will be on our walls until October 31st and is available online too!
