Julianna Swaney Illustration

Posted by Julie Beckett on

Julianna Swaney is an artist and illustrator living in the Pacific Northwest. She finds inspiration in fairy and folk tales, as well as animals, classical music, and houseplants. She creates her drawings and illustrations with pencil, watercolor, and gouache.

Each piece invites the viewer into the world of Julianna's imagination, which seems like a fascinating (and often adorable) place to live.

Michele Maule

Posted by Julie Beckett on

Michele Maule is an illustrator, painter, and printmaker.  While her work covers a variety of subjects, her whimsical paintings of animals are some of our favorites.

Michele lives right here in Portland, and she also depicts some of Portland's best views:

And some of our most beautiful landmarks:

We carry a wide variety of Michele's prints, and this sweet cat makes us smile every time we look at it.

Berkley Illustration Prints

Posted by Julie Beckett on

Berkley Illustration is made up of Ryan and Lucy Berkley right here in Portland, Oregon. Ryan is the self-taught artist and Lucy is the storywriter/customer services/business person behind the scenes.

Ryan and Lucy started creating animal portraits in 2006, combining their love of animals and 'old-timey' portraiture.

All the animals are hand-drawn by Ryan using markers and colored pencils.  Lucy writes the story behind the portrait, like this gem about the Bunny Rabbit:

"Tired being perpetually called "cute", this bunny went through a phase where he wore a mohawk and dyed his fur. He grew to miss the accolades, however, and came to terms with the fact he was just plain adorable."

 We couldn't agree more!

Marika Paz

Posted by Julie Beckett on

We are happy to welcome artist and illustrator Marika Paz to the Tilde family. Marika grew up on the northern California coast in a redwood forest with her mother and a wolf they thought was a dog. With a lot of time, sky, and sea, Marika developed a love for folktales and art.

A self taught artist, Marika’s work explores the relationships of animals with humans and nature. Her illustrations feature playful forest animals, nature, and folk stories-with a hint of mysticism. Dreamy and imaginative, she creates a world of magic, wonder, and possibilities.

Marika now resides in Portland, OR where she is inspired by the flora and fauna all around her. She lives with her husband Patrick, Scout (the pup), Boogie (the cat), and Sugar Britches (the other cat).
