The delicate profiles and geometries form the “Shadows” series, representing some of the many map projections used in cartography.

The delicate profiles and geometries which form the "Shadows" series represent some of the many map projections used in traditional cartography.

Each map is beautifully handcrafted with locally sourced materials and is available in a variety of sizes and wood species.

All are welcome so stop by and talk to Don about mapping and his unique woodwork maps.

Jeni Lee's "Valleyscapes"

Posted by Debbe Hamada on

Join us Sunday, June 9th from 2 - 4:00pm for the opening reception of local artist Jeni Lee's show Valleyscapes: Paintings Celebrating the Willamette Valley.

"I work primarily from memory and imagination, allowing the experience and sensations of nature to emerge as I paint. With washes and glazes of paint and water, I continually build and alter the painting, carving out forms and layering light to evoke mood and atmosphere.
The Willamette Valley, with its dramatic skies and endless folds of earth and water, has always been a strong influence on my work, especially in the spring, when the fresh color and light of the season inspires much growth and possibility."

Portland, Oregon artist Jeni Lee is known for her atmospheric paintings of the lush Northwest landscape. Each eartwork is created with layers of acrylic paint, rain and collected, recycled rainwater. This process of engaging with the rain invites unique works through chance and timing, each with patterns and reflections of color and light.

We look forward to seeing you at the opening reception on June 9th or come visit us anytime at the store, Jeni's work will be up on our walls until July 25th.

aunts & uncles

Posted by Debbe Hamada on

We are thrilled to announce that we now carry handbags, backpacks and wallets from aunts & uncles. This family owned business is based in the Lower Rhine Region of German. The founder is an Austrian designer and mother of two, she noticed a growing demand in the leather industry for products with more emotional identity, personality and an increasing appreciation of materials. Since 2004 she and her "family" have enthusiastically developed and created new designs, consistently improving the old by combining tradition and the local zeitgeist.

Their business name aunts & uncles” is inspired by their quirky and loving kinfolk of the Lower Rhine Region. It speaks of the slow movement, loyalty and honesty - traditional values which people from that area attach the utmost importance to. "Growth never happens at the expense of our partners or quality."

aunts & uncles leathers are free of CFC, PCB, PCP, formaldehyde and are dyed with colors that comply with the AZO and other European regulations. The major part of the leathers we use is being pre-tanned with trivalent chromium salts, which are harmless to health, during the first tanning stage. With the retanning the chrome content is being extracted out of the leather to a high percentage again and replaced by vegetal tanning agents, like e.g. bark.

We have a large selection of this beautiful leather line. Stop in to shop for a new bag or wallet or click through to our website to shop our full selection online.
