ART SHOW OPENING DAY!
"Folds & Shadows"
FEATURED ARTIST: DON LEE
Meet the artist from 2pm - 4pm
"Folds" and "Shadows" are two new map series from Woodmapping local artist, Don Lee. A successful Portland architect, Don somehow manages to find time to create stunning wooden art pieces unlike anything you've seen before!
"Folds" is a modern take on a tapestry, created with wood and fabric, to make a visually stunning and tactile map.
The delicate profiles and geometries which form the "Shadows" series represent some of the many map projections used in traditional cartography.
Each map is beautifully handcrafted with locally sourced materials and is available in a variety of sizes and wood species.
All are welcome so stop by and talk to Don about mapping and his unique woodwork maps.

Join us July 8th from 1-3 pm for an opening reception! Meet the artist, share some conversation and refreshments and view gorgeous Botanical Shadow Paintings!
Rachel Austin's paintings are inspired by her garden and her love of plants. This series of botanical watercolors on wood are of the soft, abstracted shadows found in her garden and on hikes in the Pacific Northwest.
The paintings are done with watercolor and acrylic to create understated and meditative pieces. Rachel has been a full time artist since 2006 when after getting a degree in finance she realized art was probably a better path for her.
Rachel’s studio is in her home in SE Portland where she paints, folds cards and packages prints for happy customers and shops all over the country.
