Lavender Fish (Gainsborough)
Two beautifully scented lavender fish drawer scenters in a gift box. This takes a traditional item and gives it a bit of a quirky twist. Handmade in Lime Tree Design’s Nottinghamshire studio with a mix of Liberty of London Tana Lawn fabric and silk dupion, the "sardines" are filled with the most fragrant Provence lavender which lasts and lasts. Each sardine has a button eye.
Lavender has long been used to scent drawers and linen cupboards and is the traditional remedy to keep the moths at bay. It is also supposed to help you sleep.
These make a wonderful hostess present or indeed for anyone who loves lavender. The drawer scenters come in a presentation box, so are easy to wrap and mail.
Each fish measures approx 6in x 1.75in. Box measures 6.25in x 3in x 1in
Kate Barker started Lime Tree Design because a friend pointed out it might be fun to begin a business and also raises money for charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK, Asthma UK, Children in Need, NSPCC, Rainbow Trust Children’s Hospices, British Red Cross, Beaumond House Hospice and local charities. To date Lime Tree Design has donated more than £10,000 to charities.
Her inspiration is wide and varied. It is her mother’s button box and spinster aunts’ jewelry boxes. The colors and textures of the vintage clothes she collected. It is the funky ‘60s prints which filled her childhood home and the vintage finds from the jumble sale.
